City Health Care Partnership CIC (CHCP) are a social enterprise providing a wide range of high quality, safe health and care services. We are a co-owned ‘for better profit’ organisation, investing profits into our services, colleagues and the communities we work in. Our mission is to deliver high quality, safe health and care services that are personally responsive, caring, respectful and inclusive of all; being an organisation that is both commercially and socially responsible in its intent and striving to improve wider community outcomes.
Our services range from primary care to dental, therapies and rehabilitation to psychological wellbeing, children’s community nursing to urgent care; and through our charity, the CHCP Foundation, we give extra support to improve health and wellbeing at a local level. In all of these areas, we see first hand the issues impacting the long term health of communities, including how unhealthy eating habits and diet can impact on children and young people throughout their lives.
The knowledge, experience and expertise drives us to make real change, and is where the concept for Healthy Heroes was born.
Healthy Heroes® aims to provide children and young people a fun and engaging way to develop the tools to make positive choices. They can learn about the importance of a balanced diet and healthy eating habits through fun, animated episodes and a range of adaptable resources- all built around the Food Standards Core Competencies for Children, aligned with National Curriculum for Key Stages 1 & 2, and content certified by Dieticians.
our story
Liz and Giles are the creators and founders of ‘Healthy Heroes’. Both hold a Masters of Science in Public Health so understand the importance of education and promotion on the impact of protecting and improving the health of communities.
They have worked for CHCP for a number of years across the whole portfolio of services and during this time recognised the need for a fun way to support children to make more positive choices about their dietary health.
Fudge Animation Studios are an award-winning animation studio in London that creates captivating and imaginative children’s television programming through exceptional character design, storytelling, and a deep understanding of kids’ insights. They saw the potential from the early ‘Healthy Heroes’ concept outlines and Lead Animator, Dan, supported Liz and Giles’ every step of the way to help realise this vision.
Throughout the process, support and sign off for all nutritional content has come from CHCP dieticians. They are experts in interpreting scientific information about nutrition and food into practical dietary advice; ensuring every element of ‘Healthy Heroes’ mirrors best practice guidance.
Sian joined the ‘Healthy Heroes’ as a Project Manager midway through the journey. She supported development of the resources and continues to support with customer relationships with schools. With previous experience as a teaching assistant, she helps ensure content is in line with KS1 & KS2 requirements and remains adaptable to the needs of a classroom.
